Abstract

1330300 Transferring articles to conveyers MOLINS MACHINE CO Ltd 31 Dec 1970 [31 Dec 1969] 63452/69 Heading B8A Article handling apparatus comprises shoots 1, (2) (3), Fig. 1 (not shown), for holding packets 4, rotatable transfer devices 5, (6), (7) mounted at the outlet of each shoot for transferring packets from the shoots on to a guide surface 8 along which the packets are conveyed to a further conveyer (14) the transfer of packets 4 between the surface 8 and conveyer (14) being assisted by by a rotary pusher (13). Each transfer device, Fig. 2, comprises a rotating arm 25 on which a carrier 16 is pivotally mounted at each end, each carrier 16 having a platform 35 on to which a packet 4 is deposited at the loading position A under the action of a pusher plate 24 mounted on the carrier 16, the packet being held on the platform 35 by suction applied through pipes 22, 36. One end of each carrier 16 has a cam follower wheel 18 connected to a member 20 which rotates with the arm 25 by means of a spring 19 which holds the wheel 18 in contact with the periphery of a fixed cam 21. On reaching the unloading position B, the suction is stopped and the packet 4 is deposited on to the guide surface 8 through which pushers 9 extend from an endless conveyer (10) to move the packets 4 along the said surface 8. The rotary device (13) accelerates the packets when they leave the pushers 9 and surface 8 in order to bring them up to the speed at which the packet carriers (31) on the conveyer (14) are moving.
