Abstract
1,251,898. Rotary conveyers. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. 4 Feb., 1969 [7 Feb., 1968], No. 5832/69. Heading B8A. Articles Fig. 1 on a feeding device 7 pivoted at its mid point, are fed to turntable 25 by pivoting the device at its mid point and the articles on the turntable are then conveyed in succession from receiving station 8 to a hardening station 10, and they are then discharged at 11. Feeding device 7 Figs. 2a.-The device 7 includes a rod 13 and a guide member 18 secured to a shaft 15 at their mid point, the shaft being held by a disc 17 co-operating with a locking lever 16 and being periodically driven through 180 when released by the lever 16. The articles 12 are fed by hand on to rod 13, the other part of each article engaging the guide member 18 and the article sliding down the rod 13 past a pivoted arrestor 19 and a bell crank lever 22. When the rod is filled, the device 7 is rotated 180 degrees around its shaft 15 so that articles are now ready to be fed on to respective studs 23 carried pivotally by mountings 29 secured on the turntable 25. The discharge arc of each article from the rod 13 is controlled by the arrestor 19 bellcrank lever 22 and a pusher 24 slidingly carried in a pivoted mounting 32 and operated by a cylinder 27. Operation.-Turntable 25 rotates to bring mounting 29 into position beneath the rod 13, at which position the turntable is displaced upwards to the position shown. The bellcrank lever 22 is displaced clockwise by cylinder 21 to cause the lowermost article to pass the arrestor 19. The article is then displaced on to the studs 23 by the pusher 24 operated by the cylinder 27. When the next mounting 29 moves into the position shown, the next article is discharged from the rod 13. In this way, when all the articles are discharged from the rod 13 the rod and guide member are together rotated through 180 degrees into the receiving position whilst the other part of the rod 13 and guide member 18 is simultaneously brought into the discharge position.
