Abstract

1,143,187. Tape dispensers. UNIVERSAL PATENT & DEVELOPMENT Ltd. 26 Feb., 1966, No. 8582/66. Heading A4G. A tape dispenser comprises a casing mounting a tape roll with an upper front nose having discharge opening 25 bordered by a top wall 30 and a front wall 15 through which the tape is dispensed, and a cutter 35 which may be hinged or, as shown, sliding to close the opening and project forwardly of the casing for severing the tape and leaving a projecting free tape portion. The tape guide 26 may be the cutter hinge or the cutter may have a sliding pin and socket connection with the top wall. The roll mounting spindle 21 may have a resilient, manually operated braking extension 22 which presses on the inside of the roll while locating the roll between casing channel flanges 12, 19. The case may comprise a channel section as shown, an open-sided casing with resilient prongs on the hub or a two-part casing with telescoping hubs, the parts being separable or fixed by pins, e.g. the cutter hinge.
