Abstract

1,142,973. Tipping containers. BURNETT & ROLFE Ltd. 31 Jan., 1968 [7 March, 1967], No. 10706/67. Heading 8BE. A tippler for inverting beer kegs or like containers comprises a cradle 10 including a carrier formed by two parallel T's 11 welded to a shaft 9 in bearings 8 and two platforms respectively formed by two T's 14 and 16. Each platform is arranged at 110 degrees to the T's 11 and a pivotally mounted pneumatic ram 19 is arranged to turn the cradle 10 through 140 degrees. In one extreme position, full lines in Fig. 1, a beer keg (not shown) may be conveyed to the platform formed by the T's 14, which is horizontal, and is received between L-shaped bars 13. The ram 19 is then operated to turn the cradle 10. After it has turned through a small angle the keg tumbles over until it rests on the T's 11. Further rotation of the cradle 10 after the T's 11 have passed through a horizontal position causes the key to tumble further until it is resting on what was its upper end on the platform formed by the T's 16. When this platform reaches the position shown at 16<SP>1</SP> in chain-dotted lines in Fig. 1, the key is moved off the platform and conveyed onwards.
