[Also in Division A1] Apparatus for distributing powdered or granular material, such as fertilizers or seeds, comprises a hopper 16 having an elongated opening in which rotates a metering roller 1 formed with a number of pockets 21 whose capacity may be varied in a controlled manner. The roller 1 is surrounded by a sleeve 3 having openings 4 which may be wholly or partly aligned with the pockets in order to vary the amount of material delivered at each rotation of the roller; the roller and sleeve may be of wood or plastics material. The sleeve is provided with an end wall 7 having a hollow axle 8 secured to a wheel 9. A lever 11 is attached to a rod 10 fixed to the roller and is connected, via a wing nut, to a bolt 13 passing though a slot 12 in the wheel so that the relative position of the sleeve and roller may be adjusted; alternatively a slot may be provided in a segmental extension of the end wall 7 and the bolt mounted in a hole in the wheel.
