Abstract

[Also in Division B8] An apparatus for dispensing granular material, such as fertilizers or insecticides, comprises a metering chamber 3 connected to a supply container (1, Fig. 1) and a discharge tube 4, the chamber being capable of being held manually such that by a 180 degree rotation thereof a measured quantity of material is dispensed through the tube 4. The metering chamber is provided with a baffle 5, the position of the outer edges of which determining the amount of material that can fall into the chamber upon each rotation. In a modification, the baffle (13, Fig. 8) is made from a metal plate adapted to pass through slots (14) in chamber the plate having cam-like edges such that by rotation of the plate by means of a handle (17) the amount of material dispensed can be varied. The chamber may be formed with a circular disc (22) provided with graduations. The chamber and plate may be formed from plastics material.
