Abstract

1,142,602. Stripping cables. P. T. ENRIGHT. 28 June, 1966 [28 June, 1965], No. 27220/65. Heading H2C. As the handles 8 of the stripping tool shown are pressed together gripping jaws 3, 5 and cutting jaws 4, 6 are first closed on to the wire and the two pairs of jaws are then moved apart to remove the severed insulation, sets of notches being provided in the jaws for dealing with different sizes of cable. As the jaws are closing the plates 1 which carry them are held together by a latch controlled by a spring 13 which is over-ridden by continued pressure on the handles after the jaws have closed. The latch then moves to a position where the plates 1 are held apart until the jaws have re-opened.
