Abstract

525,691. Pliers &c. ANDERSON, H. St. J. C., and EMLEY, F. G. Feb. 25, 19'39. No. 6303. [Class 61 (ii)] [Also in Group XXXVI] Pliers for stripping insulation from electric cables comprise a pair of jaws 11, 12 carrying a blade 13 for slitting the insulation longitudinally and a co-operating grooved roller 15. the covered wire 30 passing through a slot 16 in the jaw 12 and being firmly held in the groove 14 in the roller 15 by a grooved guide 17 on a post 18 slidable in an opening in the jaw 11 and pressed downwards by a spring 181. An adjustable stop 22 limits the closing of the plier jaws and the depth of cut of the slitting blade 13. The insulation is severed transversely and stripped from the wire by means of V-shaped shearing cutters 20, 21.
