Abstract
114,161. Siemens - Schuckertwerke Ges. Jan. 20, 1917, [Convention date]. Automatic circuit-breakers.-The switch d is retained in the closed position, against the action of a spring e, by means of a catch f which is tripped on overload by a magnet g in a releasing- circuit closed by a contact k on the armature h of an electro-magnet b in the main circuit. In order to retard the action of the electro-magnet, a thermal device c is connected in the main circuit and this by means of a rod i holds up the arm of the contact k until it has become deflected by the persistence of the overload for a given time. To provide for sudden heavy overloads, a spring connexion may be disposed between the rod and the contact arm, in the rod, or on the thermal device; or the thermal member itself may serve as a spring.
