Abstract

1,140,793. Mechanical seals. GOETZEWERKE FRIEDRICH GOETZE A.G. 10 Jan., 1967 [2 March, 1966], No. 1387/67. Heading F2B. A sealing ring 1 is mounted in a resilient elastomeric ring 2 having a groove 11 covered by an abutment ring 12, projections 14, 15 on both the elastomeric ring and the abutment ring being arranged to extend into the groove and overlap to prevent rotation of the elastomeric ring relative to the abutment ring. Springs 13<SP>1</SP> may be arranged between the projections 14, 15 as shown or in the reversed position so that their ends contact the projections (15), Fig. 3 (not shown).
