Abstract
1,140,626. Conditioning dried hops. VYZKUMNY USTAV ZEMEDELSKYCH STROJU. March 16, 1967 [June 21, 1966], No.12384/67. Heading C6E. In a method for adjusting the humidity of hops after drying, heated air is positively driven through an air humidifier wherein it is wetted and simultaneously cooled, and is then blown from below through a layer of dried hop cones. Heated air drawn from the drying apparatus for the hops has its relative humidity adjusted to 60-70% in the humidifier and the humidified and cooled air is blown for at least 60 minutes through a layer of hop cones that have already been dried in the dryer to a moisture content of 5-7%, in order to raise their moisture content to 10-12% suitable for pressing them into bags. The layer of hop cones travels on two screen conveyers arranged in series, during the moistening treatment.
