Abstract
1,140,289. Electromagnetic relays. MATSUSHITA ELECTRIC WORKS Ltd. 10 April, 1967 [12 April, 1966], No. 16376/67. Heading H1N. An electromagnetic relay housing an armature contact movable in a sealed tube on which an operating coil is wound is provided with means whereby the bias of the movable contact away from the fixed contact can be adjusted from a position outside the tube. As shown in Fig. 5, the movable bifurcated magnetic contact blade 2 co-operates with permanent magnet fixed contacts 4, 5 connected to magnetic terminal members 6, 7 which are soldered to metalized surfaces of a ceramic housing 1 on which the coil is wound. The contact blade 2 is embraced by a spring clip 8 whose limbs press against opposite faces of the blade with independently adjustable pressures controlled by screws 9, 10. The blade 2 is secured to a connector 3 soldered to metalized surfaces of the housing 1 which is then evacuated and filled with protective gas through holes which are subsequently filled by adjusting screws 9, 10. After setting the screws may be soldered in place. As shown in Fig. 10, one of the fixed contacts, which may not be permanently magnetized, is an adjustable screw 17 and the spring pressure adjustment screws 22, 23 are screwed in a yoke 19 which supports the blade 2 and acts as a main flux path, insulated from the connector 7 by a foil 20. The relay is sealed in a casing 15 moulded from resin or thermoplastic. In Fig. 15, the blade has two extensions 40, 41 soldered to lobes 43, 44 of a yoke 42 so that the biasing of the blade can be adjusted by bending the lobes 43, 44. The entire coil carrier and housing may be a permanent magnet polarized normal to the flat surfaces of the blade.
