Abstract

1,140,078. Brake discs. AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCTS CO. Ltd. 7 July, 1967 [27 Sept., 1966], No. 43159/66. Heading F2E. The cylindrical or frusto-conical web 13 connecting one edge of the annular friction portion 10 of a brake disc to the mounting flange 12 has circumferential segments 15, 16 each of progressively varying radial thickness, some segments being of different length. The nodal points of vibration are thus broken up and squeal is reduced. As shown, the segments are of arcuate form with alternate ones of different radius. The segments may extend over the whole of or part of the axial length of the web.
