1,139,954. Column-to-panel connections. SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ N.V. 18 Oct., 1966 [20 Oct., 1965], No. 46515/66. Heading E1W. Panels 13 are connected to a column 10 by vertically -extending clamping strips 11 and 12, the external strip 11 being fixed in position before the strip 12.. As shown, a clamp 15 comprises plates 16 and 17, which 'may alternatively be parts of the same plate, with end flanges 20, 21 and 25, and a resilient plate 18 welded thereo. A screw 19 passing through a hole in the:plate 18, and a thteaddd' hole in the end flange 20 clamps the strip 11 to the column 10: with its other ;edge; Shitting: up against the panel 13, 'sealing strips 14 being interposed between the.strip 11 and .both the column: and the panel. ..Clamping strip 12 is screwed to the end flange 25. The resillent plate 18 may be replaced by a rigid plate, having a. loose slotted connection with plate 17. In the. embodiment of Fig. 2 (not shown); the strip 11 carries. transverse plates 28 with threaded apertures for screws 19 and 23; The panels may comprise a core of polyurethane foam faced with asbestos cement;- plastics or metal.
