Abstract

1,139,769. Electromagnetic contactors. ARROW ELECTRIC SWITCHES Ltd. 12 May, 1966 [27 Sept., 1965], No. 21031/66. Heading H1N. [Also in Division H2J] A plurality of electromagnetic contactors have mechanically coupled armatures and auxiliary switches arranged so that if a contactor armature sticks in the attracted position on de-energization another contactor is energized and by means of the coupling forces the retained armature from its attracted position. Two contactors of the kind described in Specification 753,271 are mounted on a common base 10 and their armatures (50) are coupled by a link 70 which when one armature is attracted engages a pointed pivot screw 76 on which it will rock to remove a retained armature when the second armature is attracted. In addition to the usual auxiliary switches AF and AR in series with the coils of respective contactors FMC and RMC, the contactors are provided with additional snap-fiction switches PF and PR which, when the armature sticks, remain closed to connect the coil of the other contactor to the supply through change-over control switches (CF, CR) until the armature is moved a short distance towards the de-energized position.
