1,139,518. Washing-machines. H. KRANTZ YERWALTUNGS G.m.b.H. 26 Oct., 1966 [24 Nov., 1965], No. 48116/66. Heading D1A. The door of a washing machine is opened by pneumatic cylinders 23 mounted on the outside of the cabinet, in such a way that the part 2 of the door which enters the washing drum to prevent loss of clothes is telescoped into an outer portion of the door before the door is swung out of position and on reclosing the door the part 8 is drawn out by the pistons 23 before the door is finally closed. Hot and cold water may be introduced through pipes 15, 16 and the door part 2 may contain detergents prior to washing. The machine may be tilted upwardly or downwardly from its horizontal position for charging and discharging the open door providing a chute in each case.
