Abstract

1,139,175. Washers. J. BURNS Ltd. 4 July, 1967 [4 July, 1966], No. 29843/66. Heading F2H. A resilient washer of synthetic plastics material comprises a tubular sleeve 10 formed integrally with an outwardly extending part-conical skirt portion 12, the skirt portion extending between and limited by two planes which pass respectively through the ends of the tubular sleeve 10 normal to the axis thereof. The skirt portion 12 may be provided with a peripheral bead extending in the axial direction of the sleeve 10 towards the end thereof at which the skirt portion 12 joins the sleeve 10, the sleeve 10 being of an axial length greater than the corresponding dimension of the bead. The washer may be of nylon or polyvinyl chloride and the sleeve 10 may be arranged to collapse on applying a predetermined load to the washer through a nut and bolt arrangement.
