Abstract

1,138,558. Closure for injection bore of a mould. SEMPERIT ÍSTERREICHISCHAMERIKANISCHE GUMMIWERKE A.G. 28 Sept., 1967 [30 Sept., 1966; 16 Nov., 1966], No. 44155/67. Heading B5A. A device for closing the injection bore of a mould for use in injection moulding comprises a tubular diaphragm 4 housed within the mould wall 1 so as to form part of the wall of the injection bore 3 and either a supply of compressed air (Fig. 1, not shown) or one or more movable pins (Fig. 2) operable from outside the mould to pinch the walls of the diaphragm and so close the injection bore. The diaphragm is preferably made of silicone rubber and may be surrounded by a metal or plastics tube 6. In the case where compressed air is used the tube 6 has an annular external groove to which compressed air is supplied, the groove being provided with bores between it and the inside of the tube. In the case where a pin 12 is used this is moved by operation of a spring-loaded eccentric lever 14.
