Abstract

1,047,183. Injection moulding; blow moulding. E. I. VALYI. Feb. 10, 1964 [Feb. 8, 1963], No. 5554/64. Heading B5A. Apparatus for the manufacture of hollow plastics articles by blow moulding an injectionmoulded parison 45, comprises a blow-core 35 the free end 37 of which is brought into abutment with aligning means (28, 46) so as to maintain the core in accurate alignment with the axis of a mould recess 26, thereby ensuring constant thickness in the walls of the parison 45. As shown, the aligning means comprises a pin 28 carried by an end wall 25 and engageable in a conical recess in the blow core 35. Material is injected through an axial passage 31 terminating in a plurality of divergent passages 32. After the parison has been formed it is removed from the mould together with the blow core and blow mould halves 50, 51 (Fig. 1, not shown) closed thereon. Knife edges 59, 60 on these mould halves shear off a portion of the end wall 61 of the parison and in doing so close the opening formed therein by the pin 28. Air or other fluid is then introduced through ports 41 in the blow core 35.
