Abstract
1,046,854. Injection moulding. TEN PIN (PLASTICS) Ltd. May 30, 1963 [June 4, 1962], No. 21458/62. Heading B5A. [Also in Division A6] A bowling pin is injection moulded from a synthetic resin material such as nylon or foamed polypropylene. The mould utilized comprises two parts 20, 21 pivoted at 23 and provided with inlet and outlet pipes 24, 25 for watercooling the mould, and further comprises a water-cooled mandrel 26 for forming a cavity within the pin. A screw-threaded member 27 slidable on the mandrel and located in the position shown in Fig. 2 by co-operating catch means on members 26 and 27, serves to mould a screw-threaded recess in the base of the pin for the removable attachment of a base section (not shown) to the pin. The member 27 is initially withdrawn from the mandrel with the moulded pin, and is subsequently unscrewed from the pin when the moulded material has hardened sufficiently.
