Abstract
1,115,366. Injection moulding. KOHLERJOA CORPORATION. 19 June, 1965, No. 26034/65. Heading B5A. Partly cured polystyrene &c. beads are injected into a mould 10, 20 by means of an aspirating device 56 through which air is forced so as to draw the beads from a reservoir 64 through a pipe 62. Air under pressure is also supplied to the reservoir 64 through a pipe 80 and valve 83 to assist the delivery of beads therefrom. When the mould cavity is filled, excess beads are returned by the air jet to the reservoir. The mould cavity is then closed by an hydraulic plunger 40. The moulded article may be cured and then cooled by steam and water respectively admitted to chambers 8, 22 through supply pipes 12, 14. If the mould parts are porous, removal of the article may be assisted by air pressure. The valve 83 and a valve 84 in the supply to the aspirator nozzle (54), Fig. 2 (not shown), may be operated by electric, mechanical or manual means. Closing of the mould part 10 is by a ram 4.
