Abstract

Injection nozzle for plastics extrusion apparatus comprises a nozzle needle with a plunger extension spring-biased into the outlet to close the outlet. The needle has a frusto-conical pressure surface on to which the pressure of the plastics in the nozzle acts to move the needle and open the outlet. The pressure build up opens the outlet, but the outlet is closed automatically after moulding to reduce the sprue.
