[Also in Divisions G2 and H1] In an electrostatic recorder a vessel containing developing powder for converting latent electrostatic images to visible ones is replenished by using a magnetic brush and electrically charged conveying member to transfer developing powder to the vessel from a supplementary vessel containing an electrically charged mixture of the powder and a magnetizable carrier substance. In the Fig. 4 embodiment the stirring action of a rotary magnetic brush 57 charges resin powder and the carrier (powdered iron) with opposite polarities and carries the mixture from supplementary vessel 53 to a conveyer belt or metal roller 55 electrically charged by source 61 with a polarity opposite to that of the resin. Developing powder is then removed from the belt or roller 55 by the attraction of charged carrier on a second magnetic brush 56, the charge on roller 55 being reduced in synchronism with the approach of brush 56 to its surface. Alternatively, the powder may be removed from roller 55 by a vibrating scraper (Fig. 5, not shown). For producing the latent image in a facsimile recorder, electrodes 23 (Fig. 1) on a printed circuit board 20 are energized sequentially via distributer segments 22 to give a complete line of the image on a record medium moved normally to the line of electrodes 23. The segments 22 are scanned by a rotary brush or by the beam of a cathode-ray tube in which the board 20 forms the tube face-plate.
