Abstract

1,133,722. Fire-extinguishers. GRAVINER (COLNBROOK) Ltd. 7 Feb., 1966 [17 Feb., 1965], No. 6741/65. Heading A5A. A fire-extinguisher of the kind comprising a sealed container containing a pressurised fire-extinguishing liquid or powder has a housing 14 secured to the neck of the container 10 and containing an explosive cartridge 12 which is detonated when it is desired to discharge the contents of the container 10 and a stopper 11 with a flange 11b held in sealing engagement with a ring 13 arranged in housing 14 by a sleeve 16 and a threaded ring 15 screwing into a portion of housing 14, the stopper 11 having a thin-rim 11a which is severed by the detonation of the cartridge 12 to release stopper 11. The stopper is discharged into a tube 18 held in ring 15 by a box 17 screwed into housing 14, tube 18 having lugs 18a to prevent the stopper rebounding and box 17 a pin 19 which is displaced by the discharge stopper and indicates visually that the container has been discharged.
