Abstract

1,078,041. Dispensing liquids by gaseous pressure. SCOVILL MANUFACTURING CO. Jan. 17, 1966 [Jan. 19, 1965], No.2168/66. Heading F1R. [Also in Division F2] A pressure relief device for a pressurized dispensing container comprises an aperture 20, 21 formed in the container wall by shearing, and a frangible membrane 22, e.g. metal foil, covering the aperture and sealed to the inner surface of the wall, e. g. by adhesive. Forming the aperture by shearing provides a bridge portion 19 which prevents accidental damage to the membrane, and, when the membrane ruptures, directs the container contents sideways against valve cup walls 11 and 16.
