[Also in Divisions C7 and El] A method of improving the capacitance of an aluminium or aluminium alloy foil containing in excess of 95% of aluminium comprises cold working the foil to very thin sheets having a thickness of between 0.0006 to 0.006 inch and a thickness reduction of between 85% to 95% and directly subjecting the coldworked foil to etching with subsequent annealing and anodic formation. The annealing step may be replaced by high temperature air oxidation, at a temperature of 450-550‹ C. during which annealing takes place.
