Abstract

1,132,196. Printing-surfaces. PAPER CONVERTING MACHINE CO. Inc. 24 May, 1967 [18 Jan., 1967], No. 24231/67. Heading B6C. A metal-backed printing plate is magnetically secured to a cylinder (10), Fig. 1 (not shown), comprising a shaft (12) supporting a plurality of annular magnetic discs 13 and provided with an axially extending groove 14, the ends 15a, 15b of the plate being secured within the groove by a steel bar 16. The discs 13 are spaced by non- magnetic separators (14) and a projection 17 on the bar 16 engages a portion 18 of the groove 14 so that the tapered undersides 20, 20a of the bar 16 clamp the plate ends. The ends of the plate are initially deformed on an auxiliary cylinder (21) having a groove (22) narrower than the groove 14 by a member (24), Fig. 4 (not shown), having a resilient face (26). A guide member (27), Fig. 3 (not shown), is then used in the groove 14 to establish the plate in a predetermined position on the cylinder (10).
