Abstract
1,131,856. Fishing apparatus. W. KING- STON. 1 Dec., 1966 [2 Dec., 1965], No. 51107/65. Heading A1A. [Also in Division B7] A fishing net is anchored by a device having two hydrofoil blades 1 supported by members 2 to slide in a frame 5 which includes two triangular guides 9. Net ropes 10 are slidingly connected to the guides by rings 11, and cables 12, 13 also connect the blades 1 to the guides and are arranged so that when the net rope ring 11 slides to one side of the triangular guide 9, as shown, it pulls on the cable 13 to tilt the hydrofoil blades whereby spikes 6 are pushed downwardly into the bed. On a change of flow (change of tide) the ropes slide to the other side of the triangle and pull on the other rope 12 to tilt the blades in the opposite direction. For lifting a net, the hydrofoil shown in Fig. 2 is connected to a net rope 10 and its tilt and therefore the amount of lift exerted is adjustable by an attachment cable 20 whose securing position to the hydrofoil is adjustable by a screw arrangement 17 to 19. The blades are formed with metal skins and a main spar of metal, paper or plastics honeycomb surrounded by a foamed polyurethane plastic. A catch which is released on striking the ground, can be used to hold the hydrofoil blades in a position for generating maximum force when the anchor is being dropped.
