Abstract
1,131,198. Ship's breakwater arrangement. LITTON INDUSTRIES Inc. 14 March, 1967 [19 April, 1966], No. 12004/67. Headings B7M and B7S. Awatercraft 12 has a breakwater 11 positioned athwartship on a forward deck, at least one well open (via holes 16) forwardly of the breakwater so as to collect water prior to its impingement upon the breakwater, and at least one freeing port in a side of the craft whereby water collected in the well will be discharged overboard. In the embodiment shown there is a port on each side with doors 24, 25 resiliently biased to the closed position but moved open by the water collected in the well, and as the breakwater 11 cannot extend the full width of the deck auxiliary breakwaters 26 and 27 are provided at the sides. A plurality of breakwaters and associated wells may be installed in series.
