[Also in Divisions B5 and H1] A flexible tubular conductor for a cable is formed by longitudinally folding a tape of a laminate which comprises a layer of synthetic plastics material 8 of from 5 to 20 mil. thick, an electrically conducting metallic layer 7 of from ¢ to 3 mil. thick extending completely over one side of the plastics layer and an electrically conducting metallic region of from ¢ to 3 mil. thick on the other side of the plastics layer, and the metallic region, which may or may not extend completely over the plastics layer, is so formed at one edge that conductive contact is made at the overlap between the metallic layer and region so that a metal path extends circumferentially around the tube and across the overlap. The tube is either corrugated or is supported by an outer jacket to prevent buckling thereof. The metal may be copper, silver or aluminium and the synthetic plastics material may be polyethylene, polypropylene or polystyrene or laminates of these reinforced with glass-fibre.
