Abstract

1,129,291. Heating briquettes. COAL INDUSTRY (PATENTS) Ltd. 25 Feb., 1966 [29 Jan., 1965], No. 4099/65. Heading C5E. Briquettes made from coal carbonized and briquetted in the range 370‹ to 470‹ C. are heated for a time not exceeding 30 minutes at a temperature not less than the briquetting temperature, and not more than 550‹ C. The heating may be carried out in a bed of sand or in a gas stream. Three specific examples are described. They all relate to briquettes made by carbonizing a strongly caking coal in a fluidized bed at 430‹ to 450‹ C., and heating the briquettes for 10 to 20 minutes at 450‹ to 500‹ C.
