Abstract
1,129,253. Sponge mops. G. LEIFHEIT and I. LEIFHEIT. 25 April, 1966, No. 17891/66. Heading A4F. A sponge mop comprises a sponge cleaning member 7 which is so movably mounted between two rollers 6 of a forked holder 1 that when a lever 10 is operated, a pull rod 9 moves the sponge member 7 to be squeezed between the two rollers 6, the pull rod 9 being so releasably attached by a spring 13 to a U-shaped lug 12 which is fixed to a socket 8 of the sponge member that the removal from the mop and replacement of the sponge member 7 is thereby facilitated. The spring 13 which is U-shaped is mounted with its ends inserted in the lug 12 and arranged releasably to engage recesses 14 in an end portion 11 of the pull rod 9 when this end portion 11 is inserted in the lug. A slot 15 in one of the forks of the holder guides the pull rod when the cleaning member 7 is being moved between the rollers 6. A handle 3 is secured by a screw 4 to the holder and the pull rod operating lever 10 is pivotally mounted on the handle 3.
