Abstract
1,129,038. Roller mills. E. CAVALIERI. 10 Dec., 1966, No. 55419/66. Heading B2A. [Also in Division F1] Means for controlling the nip pressure between a pair of cooperating rolls C 1 , C 2 Fig. 1 in a roll mill through a hydraulic piston b 1 and cylinder d 2 secured to bearings S 1 , SO of end shafts P 1 , P 2 of rolls C 1 , C 2 respectively comprises an intensifier cylinder having an outlet 10 connected by a duct 8 to said cylinder d 2 and into which cylinder is urged a piston 6 by admission of compressed air behind a piston head 7 through a manually controlled pressure reducing valve 16. The pressurized hydraulic fluid outlet 10 is controlled by a throttle screw 12. The nip pressure between roll C 2 and a further roll C 3 is controlled by a hydraulic piston b 2 and cylinder d 3 , to which pressurized fluid is passed from a further intensifier.
