774,373. Automatic control systems for rolling mills. BRITISH IRON & STEEL RESEARCH ASSOCIATION. Feb. 19, 1954 [Nov. 19, 1952], No. 29220/52. Drawings to Specification. Class 38 (4). The speed of a rolling mill is controlled in accordance with the roll pressure to maintain the thickness of the rolled material constant. The output of strain gauges responsive to the roll pressure is applied through an amplifier to a pilot exciter for the Ward-Leonard mill drive. Specifications 601,214 and 626,206, [Group XXXVI], are referred to.
