A negative colour image is obtained by a combination of the photo-solubilization process and the silver-dye-bleach process by exposing a lightsensitive material having at least one emulsion layer containing an azo dye and a light-sensitive silver halide, the solubility of which in silver halide solvents has been reduced by a factor of at least 5 by addition of 0À5 to 20 millimoles per gm. of silver halide of an organic compound whose silver salts are less soluble in silver halide solvents than silver chloride, treating the exposed layer with a silver halide solvent to dissolve the silver salts in the exposedareas, reducing the silver salt image remaining to form a positive silver image, bleaching the azo dye in a dyebleaching both in the silver image areas to form a negative dye image and bleaching and fixing to remove the silver image. Organic compounds specified are thiourea and 1-phenyl-5-mercaptotetrazole and the compounds disclosed in Specifications 1, 031, 902 and 1, 031, 903.
