Abstract
1,128,219. Ring traveller applying tool. J. MORTIMER. 22 Feb., 1967 [17 March, 1966], No. 11629/66. Heading D1F. A tool for loading ring travellers onto rings in spinning frames has a blade formed of two sections 4 and 5 which are connected together directly or indirectly by a spring 6 and which together push a traveller 8 from a magazine 9 to a ring it, with section 5 completing the loading by pushing the far end onto the ring. The sections are moved by a "trigger" I being pivoted on pin 2 against the force of spring 12. During the initial movement of section 4 pin 13 on plate 14 runs up groove 15 in section 4 causing plate 14 to pivot so that cutting edge 17 thereon separates the first traveller from the remainder on the magazine. The blade 4, 5 lies between two plates which adjacent magazine 9 form a chamber the width of which can be adjusted by one of the plates being pivotally mounted to allow the passage therethrough of travellers of different widths. Magazine 9 is resiliently mounted so as to allow the forward end thereof to be pushed out of the way by the forward movement of the blade 4, 5.
