Abstract
1,126,416. Knitting-machines. WIRKMASCHINENBAU KARL-MARX-STADT. VEB. 31 March, 1966, No. 14352/66. Heading D1C. A pivoted latch detector 3 which when deflected by a latch interrupts the the control circuit of the machine has a magnet 6 secured to its remote end which when the detector is in its operative position is held by the magnetic influence against a switch 7. Movement of the detector by the latch causes the magnetic influence to decrease as the magnet moves away from the switch such that the force exerted on the latch when the detector bears on the tip is at a minimum, and distortion of the latch is avoided. A light spring 8 ensures the return of the detector to its operative position and its loading is only sufficient to overcome the frictional resistance of the pivot for the detector. A latch opener 18 is associated with the detector and is coupled thereto by a toggle mechanism to ensure that during initial starting up on base needles the latch opener is operative and the detector inoperative. In an alternative arrangement the magnet may influence the detector towards an inoperative position in which it actuates the switch.
