Abstract

1,126,011. Egg carton with reinforcing ribs. MOBIL OIL CORP. 7 April, 1967 [8 April, 1966], No. 16014/67. Heading B8P. An egg carton moulded of e.g. foam poly- Btyrene, comprises egg receiving cells 22 interconnected by external strengthening transverse ribs 23 and alternating longitudinal ribs 24, in the pattern shown. A lid closure structure is provided and comprises flanges 20 and 26, the latter having detents 29 in recesses 27. To close the carton, see also Figs. 6, 7 and 9 (not shown), flange 26 is rotated perpendicular to the plane of base member 12 and flange 20 is rotated to lie inside the wall 16 of lid 11, whereupon when the lid is closed projections 21 may engage recesses 27 and detents 29, as shown in Fig. 8. Internal transverse ribs (24<SP>1</SP>), Fig. 1 (not shown), connect posts 33 alternately to either side of the base member 12.
