Abstract
1,125,838. Continuous casting-machines. GOSUDARSTVENNY SOJUZNY INSTITUT POPROEKTIROVANIJU METALLURGICHESKIKH ZAVODOV. 26 Aug., 1966 [3 March, 1966], No. 38394/66. Heading B3F. In a multi-strand continuous casting installation each mould comprises a body 4 and a liner 5 with a water circulating space 8 therebetween, the moulds being mounted in a chassis I having water inlets and outlets enabling water to circulate into the space 8 and allowing individual moulds to be removed from the chassis, e.g. for inverting or replacement, without having to dismantle the chassis and water connections. The chassis is trunnion mounted 3 and the moulds bodies 4 may be made in two parts and clamped around the liner 5 (Fig. 3, not shown). In an alternative embodiment (Figs. 5-7, not shown) the mould has annular water chambers (22) and (25) mounted symmetrically on the body (18) so that on inversion one chamber can connect with an inlet manifold (21) of a chassis (16) and the other chamber can connect with an outlet manifold (26) after making change-over adjustments to a sleeve (27) and plugs (23) and (28). The mould axis may be curved.
