Abstract

1,125,362. Drying fibres. K. OTA. 20 Sept., 1966, No. 42005/66. Heading F4G. [Also in Division D1] Apparatus for opening out and drying bulky fibres comprises an endless conveyer 1 along which the fibres are conveyed in co-current flow with ambient air from a nozzle 21 compressed and heated by an impeller 18 and heater 19 to an opening out means comprising a vertically mounted endless lattice 3 having a spiked surface co-operating with a camber C. A beater 6 and guide roller 7 pass the fibres into a hopper 9 and an impeller 8 and Venturi 11 for vertical passage in the gas stream through ducting 12, 13, 14 to a hopper 15 in which the gas is separated from the fibres which pass to a perforated endless belt drier 25 moving between upper heaters 27, 27<SP>1</SP> and lower exhaust fans 26, 26<SP>1</SP>.
