Abstract

1,125,006. Magnetic switches. INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP. 20 May, 1966 [25 May, 1965], No. 22572/66. Heading H1N. The flux from a permanent magnet 1 normally holds the contacts of a sealed magnetic reed contact unit 6 closed until the magnet flux is diverted by an armature 3 movable relative thereto. The permanent magnet 1 and contact unit 6 are mounted in a molded plastics member 2 secured to a door frame 12 and the armature 3 is mounted with limited freedom of movement in a recess in a member 4 secured to a door 11. A magnetic shunt 9 on the member 2 adjacent the contact unit 6 diverts sufficient flux to ensure contact operation due to movement of the armature 3, but prevents operation by " stray " flux.
