Abstract

1,124,373. Furniture joints. E. MEIRI. 26 April, 1966, No. 18263/66. Heading A4H. [Also in Divisions E1 and F2] A constructional element in a table, desk &c. comprises a tube 1 of circular or oblong or triangular or square section having a slot 2 along its entire length, and the facing walls 3 of the slot are longitudinally corrugated to engage with a screw. The tube may have three further slots 3<SP>1</SP> with corrugated walls removed from each other by ninety degrees and extending inwardly from an outer circular or square sectioned wall. The elements are connected together by a cylindrical plugs 12 each having two parallel diametrical thread apertures 13. Each plug is inserted into a tube 1 and fastened therein by screws screwed through the slot 2 into the apertures 13. A connector (Fig. 11) comprising two plugs (12a, 12b) at right angles, one having a neck (15) which can pass through the slot 2, are used to connect two tubes at right angles but coplanar; and a connector (Fig. 12) comprising two plugs 12c, 12b<SP>1</SP>) connected by a part (15) which can pass through the slot 2 are used to connect two tubes at right angles but in different planes. Shelves can be supported on corrugated blocks (17) which can be slid into the slots and secured by screws. A rod (20) may be secured to a block (17) by a screw. A connector comprises an L-shaped corrugated block (Fig. 15).
