Abstract

1,263,342. Furniture joints. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. July 24, 1969, No.37354/69. Heading A4H. A plastics insert for attaching an inclined leg to a cabinet comprises a cylindrical body 1, Fig. 1 (b), provided with a collar 2 having an end face 3 at an angle other than 90 degrees to the axis (4) of body 1, a threaded bore 10 in the body perpendicular to face 3 receiving a threaded rod on a tapered tubular leg. Body 1 and a rod 5 thereon are inserted into holes in the base of a cabinet, deformable serrated projections 6 preventing relative rotation. A modified insert, Fig. 2(b), has a projection 7 that is sprung through a hole in the cabinet base, the centre of collar 2 and of the hole in the cabinet being offset from the body axis (4).
