Abstract

1,001,812. Scaffolding connections. D. A. PEARS. Feb. 7, 1962, No. 4802/62. Headings E1K and E1S. [Also in Division F2] A screw threaded spigot 5 on the end of a scaffold tube 3 for attaching the tube to a scaffolding coupling having screw threaded sockets, is provided by introducing a bolt through a hole 11 in the pole and securing it in position, projecting through a hole 9, smaller than the bolt head 10, in the end of the tube, by an hexagonal sleeve 6 having pin and slot connection 8 with the bolt to provide means for turning the bolt when engaging it with a screw threaded socket in the coupling. The bolt may be introduced through a screw threaded hole in one end of the tube which is subsequently filled by a collar holding the bolt 5 and the sleeve 6, Fig. 5 (not shown) or a screw plug having a projecting screw spigot, Fig. 6 (not shown). Bolts such as 5 may also be introduced into the tube and secured projecting through apertures in the side Fig. 7 (not shown).
