Abstract

112,381. Bekaert, C. L. June 14, 1917. Sights and methods of sighting .-Consists in a device for indicating that a gun, such as a machine gun, a rifle on a stand, or a trench mortar, has been elevated in accordance with the range, comprising a circular scale and an index, one of which is fixed while the other is adjustably mounted on the shaft of the elevating-mechanism, being first rotated thereon for zeroizing purposes and then rotated therewith. In the construction shown in Figs. 1 and 2 the index a is fixed and the scale disk e is mounted on the elevating-shaft b to which it can be clamped by a screw f passing through a dsik c keyed to the shaft and through an arcuate slot e' in the disk e. For night firing, the indicator may be made luminous by radium paste.
