Abstract

1,123,461. Magnetic storage matrices. ENGLISH ELECTRIC COMPUTERS Ltd. 16 Feb., 1967 [9 March, 1966], No. 10461/66. Heading H3B. An individual core, or group of cores, in matrix 10 is selected by energizing the primary windings of one transformer from group 26 to 29 and one transformer from group 50 to 53, the secondary windings of the transformers in the two groups being connected to opposite ends of respective lines threading the cores or groups of cores in the matrix. A similar arrangement, including groups of transformers 30 to 33 and 46 to 49 may provide current flow in the opposite direction through the core lines. Four diodes are preferably associated with each core line to prevent incorrect current flow. For less efficient operation the numbers of diodes may be halved. The transformer primary windings may be energised from sources 22A, 24A, 42A and 44A, or two of the sources may be omitted.
