Abstract

1,122,585. Transfers. KAUMAGRAPH CO. 23 Aug., 1965 [13 Oct., 1964], No. 36052/65. Heading B6C. In the manufacture of a dry transfer sheet a transparent sheet of parchment paper is roller coated on one side with a stearato-chromic chloride complex in isopropanol to provide release properties. After drying the coated surface is litho-offset printed with a multicoloured design composed in part of a series of unconnected dots. A film-forming vinyl chloride copolymer solution is placed in registry over the dried design by silk screening. Upon the dried film coating a pressure-sensitive adhesive is then placed in registry with the design by further silk screening. The adhesive coating may comprise microcrystalline wax, xylol and lecithin. In a modification of this method the non-coherent design is litho-offset overprinted in register with a clear lacquer comprising heat bodied linseed oil prior to the coating in registry over the design by the silk screen process of a mixture in a solvent solution of a vinyl wax-compatible amorphous copolymer, a glyceryl ester of hydrogenated rosin and a chlorinated polyphenyl yellow tinted viscous oil. The parchment paper may be coated on the non-printed side with a silicone coating.
