Abstract

1,121,502. Radio frequency systems. J. S THOMAS. 19 Aug., 1965 [22 May, 1964], No. 21141/64. Heading H4L. [Also in Divisions G1 and G4] A radio transmitter is disposed above a road to signal one of a plurality of safe speed limits to vehicles on the road. Each vehicle is equipped with a receiver provided with a corresponding plurality of reed relays (Fig. 3, not shown), or tuned circuits (Fig. 6, not shown), one of which is energized according to the transmitted signal and causes closure of a contact (A2, B2 or C2 in Fig. 2) which is in series with a corresponding contact closed by the speedometer when the speed exceeds the corresponding value. Closure of both contacts completes a circuit to an internal and an external lamp via a flasher unit to warn the driver and external observers that the vehicle is exceeding the speed limit.
