Abstract

1,073,021. Road traffic signals on vehicles. H-J. TAPPERT. June 2, 1964 [June 6, 1963; May 13, 1964], No. 22677/64. Heading G4Q. [Also in Divisions G1 and H2] In a flasher unit for a road traffic signalling system a bimetallic element (1, Fig. 8, not shown) is heated by a heater (23) in a circuit separate from the load so that the flash rate is independent of the load. The flasher may be used in a signal system provided with an emergency switch (49, Fig. 10, not shown) which can be operated when the vehicle is stationary to indicate emergency conditions, e.g. attempted unauthorized entry. The emergency signal may comprise the flashing the turn indicating lights alternately (Fig. 11, not shown) and sounding the horn (Fig. 9, not shown), or may comprise alternate flashing of the brake lights and the turn indicating lights (Fig. 12, not shown).
