1,120,280. Embossing. DEUTSCHE GOLDUND SILBER-SCHEIDEANSTALT. 26 July, 1965 [25 July, 1964], No. 31786/65. Heading B6J. Embossing thermoplastic layers of products resembling artificial leathers, comprising foamed or other thermoplastic layers mounted on a textile backing, is carried out by heating the side not to be embossed and drawing, under the influence of negative pressure to the side to be embossed, into a mould from which the resulting product is removed after cooling to below the softening temperature of the thermoplastic. The mould may be formed of or provided with a coating of or impregnated with silicone rubber, and may form part of a drum or comprise a sheet of metal or wire mesh or coarse fabric.
